The Police in Yola, Adamawa State are sending a 25-year-old man for mental examination after climbing a 40 metre high billboard and threatening to commit suicide.

The man, Lawan Yaro, said he wanted to die to protest “hardship” and frustration.

The Adamawa Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Othman Abubakar made this known to newsmen on Thursday in Yola.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Faro climbed the mast on Tuesday, to the consternation of residents, some of whom accused him of being lazy.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Faro climbed the mast around noon on Tuesday, but was persuaded by security men to come down around 8pm.

“He has been taken to a hospital for a psychiatric test to be carried on him in order to verify his mental status,” Abubakar said.
