Asa Festival, an annual reawakening cultural package celebrating the roots and tradition of the Yoruba race has been registered in the United States of America.

The Asa Festival. Inc., now a domestic nonprofit corporation under the law of the State of Texas, is tailored towards bringing Yoruba cultures and traditions to the front burner, by encouraging culturally talented men and women from around the world to showcase their talents at a stipulated period every year in Houston, Texas under its colourful umbrella.

The conveners of the Asa Festival, Jokceebe fm Radio, in conjunction with Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Oba Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi and Oba Asa of Yorubaland, Chief Jimoh Aliu believe that the cultural showcases would inspire Yoruba youths in the diaspora to embrace their cultures and not ignore their roots.

In a chat with NewsMakersng, the General Manager, Jokceebe fm radio, Princess Adejoke Phillips said: “Culture and Tradition have always been the roots of humanity and bedrock of Africans’ existence. Our United States of America based radio station, Jokceebe fm radio, in conjunction with Ooni of Ife, Oba Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi and Oba Asa of Yorubaland, Chief Jimoh Aliu MFR are set to re-awaken the interest of the diasporan Yoruba people in their heritage.”

NewsmakersNG learnt that the event scheduled to hold in Houston, Texas, from September 27 to 29, this year is also aimed at promoting the Yoruba norms and cultural values, to help the people rediscover and appreciate their identities.

Activities planned for the Festival included but not limited to:
* Yoruba attire fashion parade.
*Brief seminar for youths and children on the importance of speaking one’s native language.
*Traditional music and drama session
*African cuisine

* Exhibition of African Creative Arts among others.

The ASA Festival has already been endorsed by many traditional rulers in Nigeria who have indeed indicated their interest to attend the programmes.
