Fortune has smiled on a couple who delivered quadruplets in Lagos.
Anastasia Ejiofor and her husband, Peter, have received support from the wife of Lagos State governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, who sent her emissaries to them on Thursday.
Mrs Ambode said that every expression of love towards children would heal the society and prompt growth and development.
She gave cash and materials to the quadruplets in Lagos.
The Ejiofors live at Gowon Estate in Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area of the state.
Represented by Mrs Folashade Kadiri, an Assistant Director, Public Affairs Department in her office, Ambode donated cash and baby essentials to the Ejiofors.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) had reported that after seven years of marriage, Ejiofor, a Deputy Editor-in-Chief in NAN, was blessed with a set of quadruplets on December 28, 2017.
The quadruplets, all boys, were delivered at 9.24 a.m., at Crystal Specialist Hospital, Akowonjo, a suburb of Lagos.
The items, donated under her pet project — Hope for Women in Nigeria Initiative (HOFOWEM) — include cash, baby beds, mattresses, diapers, boxes of clothes, socks, pants, caps, shampoos and disinfectants among others.
The governor’s wife congratulated the Ejiofors and thanked God for the safe delivery of the infants. She commended their mother for taking care of them.
She said, “Although we got the news of their delivery late and we had other requests lined up, but I’m glad we are here today and that the babies are healthy.
“I’m passionate about children which is why I am willing to assist families.
“These children are our hope, our future and our tomorrow leaders. Therefore, parents have crucial roles to play in the development of our future leaders.”
She appealed to all to take good care of children by showing them love, adding that it would go a long way to help them to become better individuals in the society,.
The father of the babies thanked the state governor and his wife for their benevolence to the residents irrespective of tribe or ethnic and religious considerations.
“We have been following Mrs Ambode’s humanitarian activities, especially in caring for the young, old, widows, mothers of High Order Multiples (HOM) children and the underprivileged in the state.
“It shows that the Lagos State Government is sensitive and responsive to the needs of the residents.
“’We thank her Excellency for assisting us to raise these children; it is on record and that whatever they become tomorrow, she has a hand in it,’’ he said.
Lending his voice, one of Ejiofor’s neighbours, Mr Olisa Egbunike, a retired journalist, expressed appreciation on behalf of the Ejiofor neighbours, saying that people are feeling the inclusiveness of Gov. Ambode’s administration.
