Four foreigners, including a woman, abducted in Kaduna State last Tuesday have been freed today, police authorities told NewsmakersNG.

The rescued victims were named as: Nate Vangeest (CANADA), John Kirlin (USA), Rachel Kelley (CANADA) and Dean Slocum (USA).

Two of their police escorts were shot dead by the kidnappers on Tuesday, January 16.

According to the police, the two Americans and two Canadians kidnapped along Jere-Kagarko Road in Kaduna were rescued early today and two of the suspected kidnappers were arrested by a combined team of Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) and officers from the Kaduna Police Command deployed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris.

The police told NewsmakersNG that the rescued victims were in “fairly good health condition”.

A message from the police says: “They were rescued at about 7:30am today and handed over to the American Embassy in Abuja for Medical attention and other immediate needs.
