Women in Lagos State have been assured of getting the best of everything that would add value to their lives from the state government.

The assurance was given by the Deputy Governor, Mrs Oluranti Adebule, at the Gala Night/Dinner held at the Eko Hotels and Suites as part of the 2017 edition of Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO)’s National Women’s Conference.

Adebule said Lagos would continue to empower women by investing in them, not only with money, but also through capacity building to ensure their transformation socially and economically.

She urged the women to always watch the transformation indicators, socially, economically and politically.

She encouraged women to resist any form of violence against them and also guide against such, adding that they should uphold rights of the girl-child.

The deputy governor asked women to take advantage of urgent help-lines that could be contacted in case of violence against women and other vices.

“We are committed to ensuring that women of this state are given the best always by giving them the right platform to perform,” she said.

The First Lady and Chairman of COWLSO, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, told the gathering that the conference would continue to get better and impact positively on the lives of women. She commended the spirit of oneness with which this year’s edition of the annual conference was planned, thanking the committee members for their hard work and vision.

The Head of Service, Mrs Olabowale Ademola urged the women to be creative and see opportunity in every situation. She said that women in the civil service could also learn arts and crafts that could fetch them additional income.

Highlight of the evening was the winning of six new cars and other valuables including all expenses paid five days holiday each in classy hotels in Dubai, Ghana and Epe, Lagos State for ten winners through raffle draws.

Other items won in the raffle draw included chest freezers, fridges, colour television sets, power generating sets, microwave ovens, washing machines, grinding machines, gas cookers and steam mops.

Dignitaries at the event included wives of the governors of Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Kwara, Imo, Delta and Edo states.

The occasion was also graced by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Special Adviser to President Buhari on Diaspora matters, Mrs Abike Dabiri; APC South West Women Leader, Mrs Kemi Nelson; Hon Omotayo Oduntan of the Lagos State House of Assembly; Commissioner, Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation, Dr (Mrs) Lola Akande; General Manager, Lagos Television, Mrs Funke Moore, and many other dignitaries from the Lagos State Civil Service.
