For allegedly disobeying a court order, a son of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has been remanded in the transit cell of Tinubu Chief Magistrates Court, Lagos.

Aminu Atiku being led to the transit cell by a Prisons official today.

Aminu Atiku allegedly disobeyed an order made by Chief Magistrate Kikelomo Ayeye on October 11, over the custody of a 6-year-old Amir Abubakar, whom he allegedly took away from the custody of his estranged wife, Fatimo Bolori.

In the said order in which NewsmakersNG has a copy, Chief Magistrate Ayeye had ordered the respondent in the suit marked FCL/29/2017, between U. F.  Bolori Vs M. A. Abubakar, to produce one Amir Abubakar, at the Wednesday hearing of the matter.

In the said suit, the applicant had applied to court for an order of emergency, evacuation/protection,  by virtue of Section 37 of Child Right Law of Lagos State, 2015.
In the application, the applicant told the court that she received text messages from her 8-year-old daughter that she and her 6-year-old brother were lacking mother care, and that she was not happy in the home.

The Chief Magistrate in her ruling stated: “Upon perusal of the phone text communication between the applicant and her eight years daughter, and continuous denial of access to her children by the respondent, I granted the emergency, evacuation/protection application.”

When the matter came up on Wednesday, for the discharge of ’emergency, evacuation/protection order made by the court,  Aminu’s lawyer, informed the court that the parties were making plans to settle the matter out of court.

In response, Bolori’s lawyer, Nwabuzor Okoh, denied that he had been receiving any notification or been informed by the respondent to settle the matter out of court.

Consequently, Chief Magistrate Ayeye cited Atiku for contempt, for disobeying court order of October 11, ordered his remand in transit cell and the case stood down pending when he would produce the little boy.

It was gathered that both Fatimo and Aminu were divorced in 2011, and the children were with their mother, Fatimo, with an arrangement that the children would be spending the vacation with their father.

However, it was gathered that when the kids were on holiday in 2013, Aminu requested that they be released to him for a vacation abroad, after then,  he refused to let the kids return to their mother.

It was also learnt that he decided where,  when and how the mother would visit them under heavy security.

As at the time of filing this report, the court is still waiting for the arrival of the little boy.
