7-storey Building Collapses in Lagos

A seven-storey building under construction has collapsed in Banana Island, Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

The incident happened around past 3pm today.

NewsmakersNG gathered that building caved in when some of the construction workers on site had closed for the day.

A social media video of the incident however shows some persons working on topmost floor when the building collapsed.

Some of them were reportedly injured as a result of the collapse.

The spokesperson for the Lagos Fire Service and Rescue Service, Amodu Shakiri, confirmed the incident.

He said, “We got a call around 3.58 pm. We are currently trying to ascertain the claim that no one was under the rubble.”
