Seven students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State, who were seen in an online video assaulting a year one female colleague, will appear before a disciplinary panel set up by the school today.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the attention of the institution’s authorities was drawn to the incident after the video went viral on social media.
The assailants included six females and a male, said to be the ‘school father’ one of the girls in the video.
His help was reportedly sought to deal the victim who had a disagreement with his ‘school daughter’.
A source told NewsmakersNG that the seven, all of whom had been identified, would appear before the panel at 9am.
The source added that based on the university’s rules and regulations, the penalty for their offence is expulsion, after which they could be handed over to the police for prosecution.
