Four undergraduates are in police net over alleged gang-rape of a female student of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo,

Three of the suspects, Olakunle Adetuyi, Timilehin Akinola and Adebisi Adeyemi, are colleagues of the victim, while the fourth, Tobi Olagbaju, is a student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.

Police said a fifth suspect, Eric Nwage, is currently at large.

The victim (name withheld) is a 22-year-old student of the department of History and English.

She is also said to be an estranged girlfriend of one of the suspects, Timilehin, who is a student of the Social Studies department.

It was learned that the victim was lured to the private residence of one of her assailants, Tobi, located in Fagun area of the town, where she was gang-raped.

One of the victim’s friends, who got wind of the incident, reported the case to the institution’s private security outfit, following which the suspects were apprehended.

Briefing journalists on the incident, Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison said: “One of the suspects, Olakunle, took a video of their heinous crime, while they later abandoned her and threatened that they would harm her with charms if she ever revealed the incident to anyone.”

She said police have recovered the phone and the charms the suspects used in perpetrating the crime.

She added that the victim was recuperating at an undisclosed hospital in Ile Ife, Osun State.

The victim’s estranged boyfriend, Timilehin, confessed to crime.

The suspects told reporters: “I have been a close friend to her (the victim) and always advised her to shun her wayward attitude, but she would not listen. One day, she called me after lectures and said both of us should hang out. I later invited her to my friend’s place, where we forcefully took turns to sleep with her.”
