A 38-year-old pregnant woman has reportedly died of COVID-19 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, Lagos.
LASUTH is not one of the designated centres for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in Lagos State.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the patient, who was diagnosed with sepsis, was admitted on Wednesday while her sample was taken for COVID-19 test on Thursday.
The patient however died yesterday night before her sample was confirmed positive for COVID-19 today.
The body of the deceased has reportedly been retrieved from the gynecology unit of LASUTH, popularly called Ayinke House, by the state COVID-19 Response Team.
Also, all medical personnel who had close contact with the deceased have been advised to self-isolate and will undergo COVID-19 test in five days time.
It was also learnt that movements within Ayinke House has been restricted pending the fumigation of the entire building.
