23 Nigerians Await Executioners in Saudi Arabia

Eight new executioners recently engaged in Saudi Arabia to carry out an increasing number of death sentences by public beheading have 23 Nigerians on their latest list.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the Nigerians were sentenced to death over drug-related offences.

They were found guilty and convicted for contravening the narcotic and psychotropic substances which are punishable by death in the country.

Reports say they were taken into custody between 2016 and 2017 at the King Abdul-Aziz International Airport, Madinah. They reportedly hid the banned substances in their rectums as was revealed by the Saudi document.

Saudi Arabia executes not less than 90 drugs and homicide offenders yearly.

A few weeks back, one Kudirat Afolabi was executed by the Saudi authorities for drug trafficking. Another Nigerian, Saheed Sobade, who was reportedly nabbed with 1,183 grams of cocaine powder in Jeddah, was also recently executed.
