Barely 12 hours after he was unveiled as the vice presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections, former Anambra State governor, Mr Peter Obi, announced his arrival on Twitter.
Obi, whose nomination as the running mate of the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, was made public yesterday, in Abuja, admitted his prior lack of interest in the social media.
His first tweet on his handle, @Peter_Obi, reads: “I have decided to join twitter since it expands the possibilities of engagement. I hope to receive a warm welcome. Together we will #Atikulate and get Nigeria working again. #LetsGetNigeriaWorkingAgain.”
Three hours later, he followed up with another tweet that reads: “Social media is not really my thing, but I will try my best to keep up with you all. For now, let’s continue to #Atikulate. Thank you all for the reception!”
