Human Rights lawyer and Presidential aspirant on the platform of a mega party known as Alliance for People’s Trust (APT), Dr Olisa Agbakoba SAN, has withdrawn from the race.
According to a statement from the APT’s National Secretary, Mallam Nasser Kura, Agbakoba, a former President of Nigerian Bar Association, stepped down for Dr Gbenga-Olawepo Hashim to emerge as a Consensus Presidential Candidate of the third force Movement on the platform of APT.
The statement says, “APT has elected Dr Gbenga Olawepo Hashim, a frontline investor in oil and gas from Kebbi State, as consensus Presidential candidate for the 2019 elections, following a strategic alliance with a larger faction of ANN and after Dr Olisa Agbakoba SAN pulled out of the race and Lady Funke Awolowo, another presidential Aspirant of the Peoples Trust stepped down during PT convention held on Saturday, 6th October 2018, at the Oranmiyan Hall of Lagos Airport Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos.”
