Several others were also injured in the attack and are receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Sabon Birni.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the attackers stormed the market shortly after all the traders had returned from the Juma’at congregational prayers.
Commissioner for Security Matters, Colonel Garba Moyi (rtd), who confirmed the attack, blamed it on the traders for defying the ban on all rural markets in the eastern part of the state as part of measures to curtail banditry.
