The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has added KaShawn Nicola Roper to its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, escalating efforts to apprehend the suspect over a deadly 2020 shooting in Kansas City, Missouri.
In a #HappeningNow announcement, the agency revealed that a reward of up to $1 million is being offered for information leading directly to Roper’s arrest, one of the highest incentives typically reserved for fugitives considered particularly dangerous or elusive.
Roper is wanted for her alleged role in a violent altercation on August 23, 2020, during which authorities say she fired multiple gunshots at a vehicle carrying two women. The attack left one victim dead and another injured, marking a case that has remained unresolved for nearly six years.
Following the incident, prosecutors in Jackson County, Missouri, charged Roper on September 10, 2020, with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. A state warrant was subsequently issued, and a federal arrest warrant followed in July 2021 for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Law enforcement authorities describe Roper as a Black female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She is noted to have multiple tattoos across her body, including her arms, back, neck, wrist, and abdomen. She also has pierced ears.
Investigators believe she may have connections to multiple U.S. states, suggesting she could be moving across jurisdictions to evade capture.
The FBI has warned that Roper should be considered armed and dangerous, urging members of the public not to approach her. Instead, anyone with credible information is advised to contact the FBI through its tip lines or the nearest American embassy.
The inclusion of Roper on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list underscores the seriousness of the case and signals intensified global efforts to bring her to justice.
