Sixteen prospective NYSC members from Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, reportedly died in a auto accident while travelling to the Gombe orientation camp, with two others fighting for their lives.
Eyewitnesses and social media accounts described an 18-seater bus carrying the corps members being reduced to a wreck in moments, leaving the two survivors in critical condition.
The identities of the victims and the survivors have not been confirmed, and authorities have yet to issue an official statement.
Family, friends, and the wider community have taken to social media to mourn the victims, sharing images and messages expressing shock and grief.
The cause of the accident remains unknown.
