15 Escape Death in Third Mainland Bridge Accident

No fewer than 15 persons escaped death in a ghastly accident in Lagos on Saturday.

The accident involving Toyota Hiace commuter bus and an articulated vehicle occurred at the Oworonsoki end of the third mainland bridge about 11am.

NewsmakersNG learned that the 14-seater bus rammed the truck after the driver lost control due to brake failure.

The timely arrival of the convoy of the state police commissioner, Mr. Edgal Imohimi, at the scene saved most of the passengers that were trapped in the wreckage.

Imohimi and his aides who were on a special patrol of the metropolis reportedly spearheaded the rescue operation, which also involved the Lagos State Ambulance Service.

Police spokesman, SP Chike Oti, confirmed that eight persons sustained severe injuries in the accident.

Oti also quoted the police commissioner as advising road users to ensure their vehicles are in proper shape and also take extra precautions during the festive season.
