11-year-old Boy Hangs Self in Lagos

Tragedy struck in Okota area of Lagos yesterday after an 11-year-old reportedly committed suicide by hanging.

It was learnt that the incident occurred in a residential estate on the popular Ago Palace Way where the boy, identified as Kelvin, lived with his aunt.

A neighbour who spoke to NewsmakersNG said the deceased was brought to Lagos by his aunt to assist in her shop where she sells foodstuff.

According to the neighbour, the boy was still seen playing with other children in the neighbourhood on Saturday.

The aunt reportedly went out yesterday morning to buy fresh supplies for her shop only to return to meet the deceased hanging from the ceiling of their sitting room.

NewsmakersNG learnt that police officers from Ago Palace police station have visited the scene and retrieved the body of the deceased.

The deceased’s aunt was also reportedly arrested by the police.
